| Abstract: | The work of Pryor resulted in a system, PARETO, which was designed to be a flexible plan execution system acting as the basis for autonomous agents, working in complex dynamic environments. This dissertation details work performed to adapt this system for use as a software agent to perform UNIX housekeeping tasks. The suitability of PARETO as the basis for agents performing such tasks is discussed, as well as the insight this system gives into the general nature of software agents. |
