Title:Music Abstractly Represented by Logical Expressions (Marble)
Date: 1995
Abstract:A logic based language for hierarchically defining high level structures in abstractly represented music, along with a meta-interpreter for realizing instances of these structures, is presented here along with details of the design process and the results of the testing and evaluation of this system. Such a system could prove useful for the automated analysis of music where the ability to represent high level musical concepts in an unambiguous way might be valuable. It is intended to bridge the gap between general purpose knowledge representation languages and systems tailored to a specific type of music analysis.
