Abstract:The problem of logistics and resource management in disease control projects in the developing world can hardly be understated. One problem that arises is the occurance of regional imbalances in supply. Such imbalances can seriously compromise the effectiveness of such programs. A prototype system is described, based on an order-based plan generator and a class of modern combinatorial optimisation techniques, which recommends an implementable plan for the redistribution of available resources to mininimise such shortages for real-world situations.
