Abstract:A novel touch sensor is described. The sensor comprises a vibration sensitive whisker carried by a parallel actuated table with three degrees of freedom. The steerable table allows efficient local exploratory motions of the whisker to be made. The design of the sensor is outlined and its capabilities demonstrated experimentally.
