Title:What Family Resemblances are not: the Continuing Relevance of Wittgenstein to the Study of Concepts and Categories
Authors:Ramscar,MJ; Hahn,U

Presented:Submitted to the Cognitive Science Society Meeting, 1998
Abstract:We argue that common interpretations of Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations within Cognitive Science misrepresent his account, underplaying its radical content. Appropriately interpreted, this account continues to challenge contemporary theories of concepts and categorisation. We illustrate the continued relevance of his position by directly applying its critique to current approaches to categorisation.
