Title:Need to Know: Using Ai for Effective Retrieval of "Everyday" Information
Date: 1995
Abstract:We all, to some extent, organise our lives with reference to a wide variety of "everyday" information, such as names and addresses, things to do, ideas, and so on. It is proposed that the time currently spent recording and subsequently retrieving this information is not being used as effectively as it might, and furthermore that techniques from the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) could be ;usefully applied to improve this situation. This dissertation describes the design of a system called NEED TO KNOW whose main goal was to explore the applicability of certain AI strategies and techniques to the problem of organising everyday information.
