The Task-Based Process Management Project is a collaborative effort between AIAI, Loughborough University, ICI, Unilever, and BG Technology (formally part of British Gas). The project is addressing research issues related to the provision of tool support for people working on tasks that cannot be modelled through prescriptive process descriptions.
I will present the state-of-the-art in workflow technology to set out the motivation for supporting non-prescriptive processes, and to provide the context for the authority modelling and reasoning techniques being developed on the project. As the techniques are in the initial stages of development, the central aim of the seminar is to initiate a discussion that will contribute to their development.
