Evolutionary Computation: Research on Emerging Strategies through a Complex Environment

Georgios Yannakakis

Abstract: This project is actually a research on emerging strategies using evolutionary computation techniques. The evolutionary algorithm used can perform a lot of new approaches within its steps. The general idea of the project is: Creation of a population whose members are 2D-circular creatures that live, move, reproduce, achieve targets and die in the same 2D environment. Every one of these creatures represents a Neural Network that receives information from the environment (as an input vector) and outputs a movement decision for the creature. In other words, our approach is to emerge object-avoidance and target-achievement strategies through an evolving neural network process.
