The Open Source Movement

The Open Source Software (OSS) movement has recently been attracting the attention of software engineers and researchers alike, owing to such success stories as Linux and Apache. The OSS movement has largely abandoned conventional software development methodologies in favour of a more adaptive evolutionary approach. In this talk I will briefly describe the background of the OSS movement and illustrate my own ideas for undertanding OSS lifecyles based on large multi-agent models.
