Toward an AKTive e-Science Environment

Stephen Potter

In this talk I will be discussing some of the recent work that the Edinburgh AKT group has been doing in the area of Semantic Web Services. Specifically, we have been thinking about the practicalities of providing a "semantic environment" in which scientists are able to discover services, compose these into (simple) workflows and then enact those workflows over the Internet.  The domain that we have chosen for our initial experiments is that of BioInformatics.
