In my talk this week I will be summarising the state-of-the-art in Agent Communication Languages (ACLs). I will briefly discuss the established languages (KQML & FIPA-ACL) and then outline the criticisms of the "mentalistic" model on which these ACLs are based. I will discuss a number of alternative models and describe how they overcome the problems of the previous approach.
