Review of the Robotics applications of biologically inspired models
Abstract:
The talk will compare robot and animal control systems from an
evolutionary perspective.
I will briefly review some examples of biologically-inspired robot
control systems
before focusing on two key questions: (i) at what level(s) robotics should seek
to emulate biology, and (ii) what lessons for the robot design process can be
gleaned from the evolutionary history of nervous systems. Finally, I
will consider
the current prospects for Dennett's proposal that we build "the whole
iguana".
