Abstract:In the second of two articles, we consider the role of viewer centred representations in human vision. The role of two dimensional orientation and three dimensional aspect are discussed in the context of structural theories of object recognition. We review evidence for single object centred and multiple viewer centred models. This appears to favour a flexibility of approach, dependent on both the visual task and the object depicted. Finally we summarise briefly the principal conclusions and draw comparisons between view dependency in human and machine vision.
