Abstract:Academic research groups web sites are especially suited for automatic generation because they are standardised with respect to the information they provide - such as members, research projects, publications, events, conference information and useful links. In this project we have extended the existing automatic site generation system of the Software Systems and Processes research group at the University of Edinburgh to become an interactive and easier to use site generator for research groups in general. We implemented an interface which allows declarative organisation descriptions of a research group to be constructed in terms of a domain-specific language and tested for syntactical and semantical correctness. The original domain-specific language was extended to cover a broader range of research groups requirements. We also reconstructed the existing generator to allow a number of different visualisations. The extended site generator system can therefore be more widely applicable because it provides support in describing the organisation of a research group and gives more choices for site visualisation.
