Abstract: | This dissertation describes the design, implementation and testing of a low cost Stereo Vision Head. It details the development of the mechanical devices, which is based on DC servo motors and specifies the sensors that are miniature cameras mounted on the servos.
On the other hand it shows the software to control and drive the motors based on the camera perception. Moreover, it describes the tracking of an image feature in the visual field with different tracking algorithms.
The processors that compute the images and calculate the motor movements are based on a network of general purpose transputers.
